About DB Tree Care

What We Stand For

We believe that tree care done properly makes a real difference, not only to the health and safety of your trees, but also to the appearance of your property and the environment around us. In practice, this means honest advice, work completed to the highest professional standards, and a genuine commitment to doing right by both our clients and the trees we work with.

MEET DOMINIC

Owner & Lead Arborist

DB Tree Care is led by Dominic, whose passion for trees, plant health, and ecology goes far beyond the job. With extensive training and hands-on experience across all aspects of arboriculture, Dominic has developed a deep understanding of tree biology, fungal diseases, structural risk assessment, and ecological habitats that few tree surgeons in the region can match.

Dominic’s knowledge of tree-associated fungi, from honey fungus and bracket fungi to subtle signs of Phytophthora and other root rots, ensures that DB Tree Care can identify problems that others miss, advise on the best course of action, and often recommend solutions that preserve a tree rather than remove it.

He is also deeply committed to wildlife conservation. Before any work is carried out, we consider the potential impact on bats, nesting birds, and other species that may depend on the tree in question. We work in accordance with wildlife legislation and are always happy to advise on ecology and habitat preservation.

OUR APPROACH

Quality, Care & Ecology

Cutting corners is never an option. For every job, we select the right equipment, including Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) where climbing would be less safe or practical.

We assess every tree surgery operation in accordance with the industry code of practice for arboriculture. Depending on the situation, this may mean two-rope working, cherry picker access, or mechanised dismantling.

Throughout the work, we treat your property, garden, and surrounding environment with exceptional care. Once the work is complete, we leave the site clean, tidy, and clear.

Tree removal is always a last resort. In our view, a tree should only come down when there is genuinely no better option. That is why our starting point is always:

  • Can this tree be saved?
  • Can it be made safe?
  • Can it continue to provide habitat and beauty?

Only when the answer is genuinely no do we recommend removal, and even then, we look for ways to leave something behind for wildlife. You can learn more about our full range of services here.

FULLY QUALIFIED

Our Accreditations & Standards

Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor:

The only nationally recognised accreditation scheme for tree surgery businesses in the UK. To achieve Approved Contractor status, we were independently assessed on our operations, health and safety, equipment, and quality of work. We are reassessed regularly to maintain this status.

NPTC/LANTRA Qualified

Our team holds the relevant NPTC (National Proficiency Tests Council) qualifications for chainsaw use, tree climbing, and aerial rescue, the standard required by the Arboricultural Association.

Fully Insured

We hold full £10m public liability and employers liability insurance, giving you complete peace of mind that you and your property are protected at all times.

BS3998 Compliant

All our tree work conforms to British Standard BS3998:2010, the industry benchmark for tree work best practice.

First Aid + F & Emergency Response

All DB Tree Care staff hold comprehensive first aid qualifications that go significantly beyond the standard First Aid at Work requirement. Our team is trained to Medi-Arb standard, a specialist, scenario-based qualification designed specifically for the hazardous environments arborists work in. Training covers catastrophic bleeding, tourniquet application, crush injuries, and other serious forestry-specific emergencies, using live scenario exercises rather than classroom theory.
